How can we learn more about our local built historic environment? This webinar will introduce teachers to the National Heritage List for England (NHLE), containing all the details about listed buildings in the country.
This information can be utilised by teachers to plan and enhance local history studies and heritage trails.
The online session will provide an overview of how to access and use the list, how it can support your own planning and how you can contribute to the list with your school’s own images, research and stories.
The session, presented by Martin Phillips, from Historic England’s Heritage Schools Programme, will include:
• Introduction to how to search the NHLE to find the nearest listed buildings to your school
• Examples of what details contained in listing entries
• Overview of how you can use pupil work, images and stories to enrich NHLE listing entries
• How you can upload work to contribute to Historic England’s Missing Pieces Project.
How you can used the NHLE and other sources to plan a local heritage trail
